About

Cultures of Anti-Racism in Latin America (CARLA) is a three-year, collaborative research project between researchers from the University of Manchester, academic partners in Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, and artists in those three countries. It resulted in a tri-lingual online exhibition curated by CARLA researchers featuring 21 artists and collectives and over 30 artworks.

In the spring of 2022, a collective of these artists and scholars came together in Manchester for a single event to showcase their work and discuss how art and culture are contributing to anti-racist struggles: The Festival of Latin American Anti-Racist & Decolonial Art.

This short documentary features a selection of performances from the festival and the conversations they generated around how art practice can challenge racism not only in Latin America, but also in the UK.
